MTV is really stepping up the use of social apps, which I am loving. They’ve got a really sweet Twitter interface that visually tracks trending topics. Check out the MTV website.
I’m actually blogging as I’m watching the VMAs and -OMG JANET JUST PERFORMED!!!!
Sorry haha distracted.
Anyways if you aren’t watching them, you better get on it!
As I was doing my daily round-up of blogs, I found out that my beloved Twitter had a bit of a worm problem recently. How I did not know this sooner, I don’t know. Maybe I was stuck in some dark isolated corner of the interwebs working on my own projects, and kept myself out of the loop.
My lack of keeping up with news aside, I was interested to find out how Twitter could have a worm. I mean, its a very simple website, you can’t just make people surf to your Twitter page and have some virus waiting to pounce. The genius of it all, was the method the programmer used to get people infected with the worm.
It started out at as a link claiming to send you to the newest gossip site online, then you’d end up going to the creators website and the worm would strike there, unleashing a javaScript code which executed a program that would cause you to send out a whole slew of Tweets and start the cycle yet again. Apparently in some variants of the worm, all you need to do is just visit the infected user’s profile page.
I know it’s nothing new. It happens to lots of people all over the internet and not just on Twitter. The one thing that did catch my attention, was that this was all done by a 17 year old. Yeah. 17!?! When I was 17 I was just learning basic HTML and CSS. But this guy is programming worms to market his website!
It boggles my mind and I’m very curious and tempted to go check out his Scripts. I wanna see how he did it. But that’s just because I’m a nerd.
